1. Name: Michael Hamlet Conrad

2. Date of Birth: May 22, 1867

3. Place of Birth: near Huntley, Montana

4. Parents: Jefferson and Avril Conrad, deceased 1871.

5. Siblings: None

6. Describe your childhood. I grew up in an orphanage in Huntley and then Billings. I left there at age 16 when I graduated from Billings High School and joined the army.

7. What did you enjoy doing as a child? Dreaming I was wealthy and could help people.

8. What is your earliest memory? Being told that my parents were dead by a minister and I would have to live in another place besides my house.

9. How old were you when you went on your first date and where did you go? 16, restaurant in The Grand Hotel in Billings. I ate buffalo tongue, it was as bad as one can imagine.

10. Married? Happily. Paula Conrad, June 21, 1885

11. How did you meet your spouse? She was a waitress at a cafe in Billings. I went in with another date. After seeing Paula, I decided the other girl was not for me.

12. Children: Martin Philemon (1888-), Robert Michael (1890-), Sarah Marie (1894-)

13. Grandchildren: Martin and Gladys adopted twin boys, Joshua and Stevie, who were born on December 12, 1908. Robert's wife is due soon.

14. Pets? Not permited in the orphange.

15. Education: Billings School for Boys, 1883.

16. What brought you to Eagle Creek? Business opportunity to open a new branch of Montana Chemical Bank. Moved 1893.

17. Current friends: Augustus Grossman, Will Clementine, Sam Hines, George Watson,.

18. Occupation: Bank president.

19. What was your first job? Chimney sweep when I was 10.

20. How much did you make? 50 cents per day.

21. What did you like to do in your free time? Imagine what I'd do if I were rich.

22. What are you doing now? Trying to convince the mayor that we do not need another bond to fix the drainage problem on Main Street.

23. Do you admire a famous person? JP Morgan.

24. What makes them admirable? His industrious attitude, survived rheumatic fever.

25. What is your favorite food? Roast beef and stewed potatoes.

26. What is your favorite color? Green.

27. What is your favorite song? Master, The Tempest Is Raging by Mary A. Baker.

28. Hobbies: Hunting, collecting firearms, fishing.

29. Name of the last book you read? Ranch Life and the Hunting Trail by Theodore Roosevelt.

30. Tell me about a memorable moment in your life; a time you will never forget. Meeting Paula. Kissing Paula. Saying, "I do" to Paula. Being called "Son" by Randolf and Fanny Scotia (her parents).

31. What things do you find yourself doing that you said you'd never do? On occasion, not speaking to my wife in a charitable tone.

32. What are the goals you are still working toward? None. I can always improve my lot, but the things I have wanted, through the grace of God, I have achieved.

33. When people look back at your life, how do you want to be remembered? Meek and disciplined.

34. What is your favorite outdoor activity? Watching the sunset.

35. Do you attend church or religious services? Eagle Creek Memorial Church; elder, occasional song leader.

37. What makes you happy? Giving others a second chance.

38. What makes you sad? Intolerance, cruelty, greed, gluttony.

39. What frightens you? My daughter falling into an untoward habit.

40. What is there about you that would surprise people if they found out? The first time I killed a deer I cried.
