6. Describe your childhood. I grew up on a farm just north of Darling Knob.
7. What did you enjoy doing as a child? Hunt wild turkey, fish, anything outdoors.
8. What is your earliest memory? Flying through the air after Lloyd tossed me off the diving cliff at the swimming hole.
9. How old were you when you went on your first date and where did you go?
13, I think. I went for a walk with Erica Scott, a local girl. Nothing came of it and she moved to Wyoming the next year.
10. Married? Ethel Kate Danaher, June 11, 1887-February 3, 1901 (her death).
Tonya Maureen Danaher, October 22, 1902-
11. How did you meet your spouse?
I knew Tonya via Ethel, her older sister. Tonya was five years younger than Ethel, so for much of our acquaintance, Tonya was a child.
After Ethel died suddenly, Tonya moved here from Quincy to help take care of the children. She had never married. She rented an apartment down the street. She was such a natural mother and as time went by Tonya and I fell in love.

I always had hunting dogs as a child. I haven't wanted a pet in years.

16. What brought you to Eagle Creek? I was born in Eagle Creek.

18. Occupation: Co-owner Jackson Brothers Hardware
19. What was your first job? Working on Matthew Howard's wheat farm.
20. How much did you make?
15 cents a bushel.
21. What did you like to do in your free time?
Take apart any mechanical device I could get my hands on and find out how it works.
22. What are you doing now?
Doing an inventory of our paints. I still can't tell the difference between "egg shell" and "cream."
23. Do you admire a famous person? Joseph Glidden, he's dead now but I got to meet him at a hardware convention about twenty years ago.
24. What makes them admirable? He told the story of how he invented barbed wire. It was very insightful.
25. What is your favorite food? Trout

28. Hobbies: I like making small art pieces out of twisted wire. I shape them into elk, deer, raccoon, etc and display them around the store.

30. Tell me about a memorable moment in your life; a time you will never forget. The day I lost Ethel. I do not want to talk about it.
31. What things do you find yourself doing that you said you'd never do?
Second guessing myself.
32. What are the goals you are still working toward?
I would like to see Cynthia be more agreeable to my marriage. She has always resented Tonya's presence.
33. When people look back at your life, how do you want to be remembered?
An honest businessman.
34. What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Believe it or not, it's taking care of the outside of my store. I want to have the cleanest business in town and I usually meet that goal.
35. Do you attend church or religious services? Eagle Creek Baptist Church
36. What is your favorite Bible verse? Romans 10:9. Hubert Fry quoted that verse in a sermon when he was auditioning to be our new pastor. That was the deciding factor for me.

Solving problems
38. What makes you sad?
I am always saddened to see folks mistreat others. I don't care what excuse they use, everyone should be treated with respect.
39. What frightens you?
Immorality. Vice destroys the soul more than it harms the body.
40. What is there about you that would surprise people if they found out?
I decided to open the store with my brother based on a coin toss.
